About JMD

I worked as an engineer for 20 years with the primary focus of one day “retiring” and enjoying some financial freedom. I’ve always loved thinking and talking about retirement wondering how much money we would need along with what we would do with all this free time once that day came.

Turns out I was being overly simplistic in my approach to retirement not unlike how I envisioned parenting. I came to realize these are hard questions and can be insufficient when considering the mental and emotional toll that can occur during this transition (eg. perceived loss of identity or value; worry about financials or markets; feeling lost, scared or disconnected; growing old, tired or irrelevant) where support can be limited or very expensive.

My coaching career is a pursuit to guide a more wholistic approach to retirement (preparation, transition and fulfillment) for not only myself, but any retiree or pre-retiree that could benefit from some support during this stage of freedom, growth, contribution & happiness.
